As a cinematic wedding videographer based in Plymouth, I’ve had the privilege of capturing love stories across Cornwall, Devon and beyond for over a decade. Each wedding is unique, but some really stay with you. Not because of extravagant details, but because of the emotion, connection and authenticity that run through the entire day.
December and Paulo’s wedding at The Green Cornwall was one of those special ones. Their day was filled with meaning, culture and deep family roots. As a storyteller, it was a joy to craft a wedding film that truly reflected who they are and the love they share.
A Love Story Grounded in Friendship and Family
December and Paulo’s journey started at university where they were both studying to become doctors. What began as a close friendship gradually blossomed into something more and after several years of shared experiences, laughter and late-night study sessions, they took the leap into a romantic relationship.
The proposal was one of the most heartfelt stories I’ve ever heard. While visiting Paulo’s family in the Philippines, he proposed to December in his grandparents’ home, a place with so much family history. He told her how the house had been built by his grandfather, how his mum had grown up there and how it held countless happy memories. Then he said, “I want you to be part of my family, so I thought you should have an important memory in this house too. Will you marry me?”
Needless to say, it was a moment full of emotion. His family, many of whom were in on the surprise, were overjoyed. That deep connection to heritage and loved ones set the tone for everything that followed.
A Wedding That Felt Like Home
From the start, December and Paulo had a clear vision. They wanted their wedding to feel like a celebration of love, culture and togetherness. It wasn’t about the details on Pinterest or having everything look picture perfect. It was about people and heart.
They brought together elements from both their British and Filipino backgrounds, blending traditions to create a day that was personal and inclusive. Most of the décor was second hand or borrowed from family and friends, a sustainable and sentimental touch that added to the charm. It was proof that it’s not about how much you spend, but the love you put into it.
There was such a relaxed, joy-filled energy all day, the kind of atmosphere I always strive to reflect in my cinematic wedding films. It was genuine, it was heartfelt and it was completely them.
The Green Cornwall: A Venue That Ticks All the Boxes
When December and Paulo visited The Green Cornwall, they immediately cancelled all their other venue viewings. They knew they’d found the one. From a practical perspective, it offered everything they needed. Stunning Cornish countryside, versatile ceremony spaces and on-site accommodation for their guests travelling from overseas.
But what really sealed the deal was that feeling you get when something just clicks. When they walked into the wedding barn, both thought, “I could get married here.” As a cinematic wedding videographer in Cornwall, I absolutely love filming at The Green. It offers a breathtaking backdrop for natural storytelling. From sweeping landscapes to beautifully lit indoor spaces that really let emotion take centre stage.
The team there are experienced, organised and supportive, which made everything smoother for the couple and for me too. A well-run venue always makes for a better film.
Meaningful Moments and Personal Touches
It’s always hard to pick one standout moment from a wedding day, but December and Paulo had so many personal touches that made their celebration unforgettable.
They wrote their own vows full of honesty and emotion. Hearing them spoken aloud was incredibly powerful. December even surprised everyone, including Paulo, by delivering part of her vows in Tagalog. There wasn’t a dry eye in the room and capturing that moment on film was truly special.
Another touching detail was the inclusion of a traditional Filipino dish, chicken adobo, which The Green’s team prepared for the reception. When Paulo’s mum gave it her seal of approval, we all knew it was something special.
And then there was the first dance. They’d practised and perfected it and watching it unfold was like watching a scene from a movie. So full of love, fun and connection. As someone who creates cinematic wedding videos, those are the moments that bring a film to life.
Why Their Wedding Video Was a Must-Have
For December and Paulo, having a wedding video wasn’t just a nice to have. It was essential. With many of Paulo’s family members living abroad, they wanted to be able to share their day and give loved ones the chance to be part of the celebration even from afar.
They were especially excited to see their vows and first dance captured on film. These were the moments they had poured themselves into emotionally and physically and watching them back, they were able to relive every second.
When they first watched their film, they told me they were overwhelmed with emotion. There were happy tears, laughter and above all a sense of gratitude that they now had something they could keep forever. That’s what cinematic wedding videography is all about. Preserving those once-in-a-lifetime moments with soul.
Why They Chose Focused Memory Productions
One of the things I love most about my work as a wedding videographer is the connection I get to build with each couple, it’s also vital in helping to tell each special story. I think it’s really important that a couple not only loves my work and style of wedding videography, but that they feel comfortable with me being a part of the most important day of their life.
December & Paulo said they chose me after we met at a wedding fair in Plymouth, here is what they had to say:
“We met Caroline at a wedding fair and just chatted away like friends. She was so relaxed and easy to talk to, as well as being funny with good banter. We both immediately felt at ease with her. Her personality is what made us choose FMP – we knew we would be in good hands, and enjoy spending time with her on the wedding day.”
It was such a pleasure to work with December and Paulo. Their trust allowed me to step into their world and create a film that truly reflected who they are.
Their Advice to Couples Planning a Wedding
“Make it about you,” they said. “Decide what your priorities are and go from there.”
For them, that meant being surrounded by their favourite people and making sure there was good food. Everything else followed naturally. Their day was a reflection of their values, their love and their shared story.
They also reminded me of something I always tell couples. Slow down. Be in the moment. Take it all in. The day goes so quickly, but the memories and your wedding film will last a lifetime.
