Cinematic Wedding Video FAQs
Here, you’ll find answers to some of the most common questions I get from couples about their wedding films. Whether you’re planning a wedding in Devon, Cornwall, or anywhere in the South West and beyound, I aim to make the process simple and enjoyable.
My goal is to create cinematic, documentary-style wedding films that are authentic, personal, and a little bit luxury. If you don’t see your question here, please feel free to call or email — I’m always happy to chat and help you plan your perfect wedding film.
Why should we have a professional Videographer?
In the words of Dr Seuss, “You’ll never know the value of a moment until it becomes a memory.”
Your wedding day is magical and over before you know it. One of the biggest regrets couples have is not having a videographer. Photos are beautiful, but they can’t capture the emotion in your voice during vows or the laughter during speeches. A professional wedding videographer will discreetly capture every precious moment throughout your day, creating an authentic, cinematic wedding film you can relive again and again.
Why do luxury cinematic wedding films cost what they do?
Creating a cinematic, luxury wedding film takes time, skill, and attention to every detail. I only take on a limited number of weddings each year so that each one receives my full focus. From filming in beautiful locations across Devon, Cornwall, and the South West, to carefully editing your Feature and Highlights films, every step is designed to ensure the highest quality result. Investing in a professional wedding videographer means you get a film you’ll treasure forever — not just moving images, but a story of your day captured authentically and beautifully.
Can we meet before we decide to book you?
Absolutely! I always encourage couples to have a consultation before booking. This gives you the chance to make sure you feel comfortable with me and understand exactly what I offer for your wedding in Devon, Cornwall, or the wider South West.
When should we book with you?
As soon as possible is our advice. I can only film one wedding per day and take on a limited number each year to ensure every film gets the attention it deserves. Booking around the same time as your photographer is a good rule of thumb. I do take last-minute bookings depending on availability, but the main season from May to September fills up quickly.
Where do you cover, and are there any extra charges for travel?
I’m based in the devon city of Plymouth, but I love to travel and cover weddings across the whole of the UK, including Cornwall, Somerset, and beyond. I’m happy to capture your day wherever it takes place. Travel is already included in all my packages, so there are no hidden extra charges. Everything you need to create your cinematic, luxury wedding film is covered.
We have already booked a photographer, how well will you work with them?
No matter who you book, whether I’ve worked with them before or we meet for the first time on the day, we’re a team. We’re both there to capture the best memories for you, and I make sure to coordinate with photographers so we don’t get in each other’s way.
I’ve worked with many different photographers over the years. If I haven’t worked with your photographer before, I usually drop them a quick email or message to introduce myself before the wedding. This way, we can focus on capturing your day seamlessly and ensure you get the best photos and wedding film.
We are nervous about being on camera...
You’re not alone! Many couples feel nervous at first, especially grooms. I film discreetly and naturally, without posing or interrupting your day. My aim is to capture your day authentically, in a documentary style, while keeping the experience relaxed and enjoyable.
Can we choose our own music for the films?
Yes and no. As a professional company, I follow copyright laws. For your Highlights film, I select the music so it can be shared online safely, choosing tracks that suit your day and style. For your Feature Film, I can obtain a license to include music of your choice, creating a truly personal, cinematic wedding film.
How long will our films be?
Every package includes two films. The Highlights film is typically 5-8 minutes, depending on the songs that are used. The Feature Film varies based on your package, ceremony length, and speeches, but on average is 30–60+ minutes. I don’t like to rush or set strict time limits, as each film is carefully crafted to tell your story.
How long will it take to get our films?
I usually deliver your films between 12–16 weeks after your wedding, once I have your final music choices for the Feature Film. I never rush the editing process, as this is where I carefully craft your footage into a luxury cinematic film you’ll treasure forever.
Can we get all the raw footage that you filmed?
I don’t offer raw footage, as each Feature Film is edited in a documentary style. You’ll receive around 80–90% of what was filmed on the day, with repeated or obstructed shots removed. The editing process enhances the story and ensures your wedding is remembered at its very best.
Flying the Drone on Your Wedding Day
Complimentary drone footage means there is no extra charge if the drone cannot fly due to weather, restrictions, or if you simply choose not to have it. The decision to fly is made at my discretion on the day and is final. When used, drone footage adds a cinematic perspective to your wedding film, capturing sweeping views of your venue and surroundings in a way that makes your day feel truly epic.
