I am very excited to finally be offering Super 8mm videography as an add-on to my wedding videography packages. It is something I have wanted to bring into my films for a long time, and after years of thinking about how I could make it work, 2026 has finally been the year to do it.
Telling Your Wedding Day Love Story with Super 8 Film
Modern digital cameras are incredible. The footage is sharp, beautifully detailed and, with the right lenses and a little creative magic in the edit, it can genuinely make you feel like you are watching your own wedding as a cinematic movie.
But there is something rather special about going in the completely opposite direction too.
Super 8mm is softer, grainier and a little less predictable. It has those small imperfections that are part of what makes it feel so distinctive, and then there is the wonderfully distinctive sound of pressing the trigger and hearing the little motor spring into action as the film begins to roll through the camera.
It is completely different from digital, and that is exactly why I love it.
Watching it back feels like reliving the whole day. It captures not just the big moments, but all the little glances, laughs, and emotions that made the day truly ours.

Where my Love of Super 8 Film Started
My first experience with Super 8mm was at art college. We were given an old camera, a reel of actual film stock, and told to go out and make a film about Plymouth.
Having previously used nothing but digital cameras on the course, it was a novelty to be handed something that felt so physical. I fell in love with the grain, the texture and the whole process of shooting on actual film. I even manually edited my film afterwards, cutting up the processed reel and splicing it back together by hand.
A few years later, my husband managed to find a genuine Super 8mm camera in a charity shop, complete with its original carry case and manual. I kept that camera, and when I started Focused Memory Productions, I always had the idea that one day I would find a way to bring my love of Super 8mm into my wedding films.
I’ve spent over a decade filming weddings across Devon and Cornwall, working with couples who want a film that feels relaxed, emotional, and beautifully crafted. I know when to blend in and let the day unfold, and when to bring a little advice, guidance and energy so you can enjoy every moment. From our first conversation to the final edit, everything has my personal touch.

Bringing Super 8 Film into Wedding Videography
Fast forward to 2026 and, with the renewed interest in analogue photography, I found myself coming back to Super 8mm again. A little research showed me that the format was making a comeback within filmmaking too, and suddenly it felt like the right time.
After having my beautiful Sankyo CM400 restored to working condition, I reached out to some of my upcoming couples to see if they would be interested in adding Super 8mm to their wedding films.
They jumped at the chance!
It has been a real hit at weddings so far, and something that guests have loved too. The camera itself has become a talking point, particularly when people realise that there is actual film inside it and hear that unmistakable little motor as I start recording.
There is also something quite lovely about the limited nature of shooting on Super 8mm. You cannot simply record everything and decide what matters later. The amount of film is finite, so each shot needs a little more thought.
The result is a beautifully unique and instantly nostalgic film of your wedding, capturing the atmosphere and little moments of the day with a character all of its own.
